How to Set Your Business Up for Success in the New Year
It's officially 2023! I hope you had the most relaxing and rejuvenating holiday season.
Now that we're back into it… how are you feeling? Motivated? Exhausted? A little bit of both?
Truth time - I didn't hit all my goals for 2022, which makes entering 2023 a little daunting... Part of me is excited for a fresh start, but the other part is feeling a little disappointed. How do I avoid it in the new year?
In January, I’m focusing on three things to get me more aligned with achievement that I hope can also help you: Setting up Systems, Saying No, and Getting Help.
Setting Up Systems for Success
It is really hard for me to reach new milestones if I don't have a system in place to support me. By setting up systems I can fall back on, I go into automatic mode toward my goals vs. trying to find new paths to them every day.
Simple things like reviewing my finances daily before emails, using Planoly for social media, or a habit tracker in Notion for my self-care routine keep me honest and organized instead of starting from square one every day.
Saying No and Setting Boundaries
No doubt about it, I overcommitted last year. Between local events in my hometown, group programs and teachings, housework, and social commitments, I got to December and FELT IT. I am learning that saying no doesn't have to feel as harsh as it sounds.
I found a great post on Instagram that shared a few ways to say no to commitments you've already made, or ones people are asking you to make. By being open and honest with your experience, saying phrases like “Getting together sounds wonderful but we are swamped these next few weeks… can we check in next month?” sounds a lot more compassionate than a frazzled “Yeah sure.”
Getting Help
I am relying on professional guidance and expertise to get me where I want to be. Instead of guessing what kind of new skincare products I should purchase, I trusted my beauty editor friends and their awesome recommendations.
Doing home maintenance and daily chores keeps falling to the back burner, so I'm looking for local professional cleaners to come twice a month. And I know the financial goals I have for my company are aggressive, so I'm working with a pro who has helped other women get where I want to go dozens of times over.
How do these strategies sound to you? Are you implementing any in the new year? I want to hear it! Comment below or email us at team@megandrosigliopr.com.
